We're blessed with our location on the shores of Galway Bay, close to the sea, rivers and countryside. Galway offers a variety of outdoor activities to entertain while burning those holiday calories and availing of our fresh, sea air.
We are situated just steps from the Salthill promenade and Galway Bay, which is one of Ireland’s most popular destinations. Enjoy our seaside walks and sandy beaches or just sit on the promenade and enjoy the salty air and marvellous sea views. In the evening take a stroll along the prom and 'watch the sun go down on Galway Bay'.
Kayaking & Wind Surfing
We're ideally located beside Galway Bay and close to the River Corrib to avail of a variety of water sports including kayaking, wind surfing and stand-up paddle-boarding at Rusheen Bay and kayak tours at Kayakmor.
West Ireland Cycling is based in Galway city and specialises in cycling tours and bike hire in Connemara, The Burren and The Aran Islands, taking cyclists off the beaten track to quieter roads where cyclists can safely enjoy some of the most beautiful scenery in the country. Iron Donkey also arrange cycling tours in the West of Ireland.
If you're willing to brave the chilly waters of the Atlantic, Scubadive West is well equipped to help you explore the depths of Galway Bay and the hidden gems of its numerous dive sites.
Tennis & Indoor Sports
If you're into racket sports, the Galway Lawn Tennis Club offer tennis, badminton, squash and racketball facilities to non-members. If your game of choice is ten-pin bowling or even laser tag, Planet Galway is the place for you.
Galway Bay Golf Resort, a mere 5 minutes walk from Marless House is set on 300 acres and designed by former Ryder cup and World cup legend Christy O Connor Jnr. This beautiful links championship course of Par 72 stretches to 7308 yds. off the championship Tee’s. own links course. A short drive away is Bearna Golf Club, with Glenlo Abbey Golf Course and Driving Range a 15 minute drive.
For those who love to fish, there are many salmon rivers and loughs in the Galway area. Brown trout can be found in the Clare and Robe rivers. There is excellent deep sea angling in the Connemara area. Western Regional Fisheries Board, Weir Lodge, Earl’s Island, provides information and advice on angling in the country. The award winning Spiddal Angling School is only a 15 drive from Marless House.
