Salthill is a suburb of Galway city and is one of Ireland’s most popular holiday destinations, with its sandy beaches and seaside walks being the main attractions. The promenade is 3kms long, where locals and visitors stroll in the evening and take the fresh sea air, while “watching the sun go down on Galway Bay”. Swimming, sailing, snorkelling, fishing and sea angling can be enjoyed.
The golden mile of restaurants, pubs and casinos also play their part by day, while shows, dancing and pubs play their part at night. For the sporting enthusiast there is horse riding, golf, tennis, pitch and putt and ten pin bowling in the nearby clubs.

Situated in the heart of Salthill, overlooking Galway Bay, Leisureland is an all round entertainment and fitness facility for children and adults alike. There is a 25 metre indoor heated swimming pool and water slide which proves very popular with the children on rainy days. Outside there is a large children’s playground and funfair including a train ride, a slide, mini golf and much more. Leisureland is less than 10 minutes walk from Marless House.
Trad on the Prom
This "music, song and dance experience" takes place in the Galway Bay hotel in Salthill. It is a fantastic mix of Irish music, song and dance at its best, showcasing the amazing talents of violin virtuoso, Mairin Fahy, who has performed as soloist with Riverdance and the Chieftains. She is joined by other equally talented members of her family. Special guests are the multi talented Chris Kelly and Eurovision star Marc Roberts to name but a few. All the Irish dancers are also world championship level (including several outright World Champions) who have performed with Riverdance and Lord of the Dance. Trad on the Prom is less than 10 minutes walk from Marless House.
Swimming at Blackrock

The Galway aquarium is located on the Salthill promenade, and offers a wonderful insight into the aquatic world in the West of Ireland with a diverse collection of marine, river and canal life. There are 170 species of Marine life from the Irish sea, including 'Valentine' (the world’s only captive White Skate) Starfish, Sea horses, Octopus, Stingrays, Spider Crab and a 60 ft Whale Skeleton. The aquarium is less than 15 minutes walk from Marless House.
O'Connor's Famous Pub
This famous cosy bar, opened in 1942 with bric-a-brac on the walls and ceiling and outdoor seating for those long summer evenings is famed for its warm atmosphere and live music. Over the years its been visited by many famous faces, including Martin Sheen, Chris O'Dowd and Irish President Michael D. Higgins.
Galway Bay Golf Resort, a mere 5 minutes walk from Marless House is set on 300 acres and designed by former Ryder cup and World cup legend Christy O Connor Jnr. This beautiful links championship course of Par 72 stretches to 7308 yds. off the championship Tee’s. own links course. A short drive away is Bearna Golf Club, with Glenlo Abbey Golf Course and Driving Range a 15 minute drive.
